Lime
Lime has long been known and used for its health and medicinal properties, most notably for its high vitamin c content. Before the days of refrigeration and other food preserving methods, it was valued as a remedy and preventative for scurvy because vitamin c has properties which help to bond together the tissues of the body. Vitamin c also has properties which reduce the amount of uric acid in the body, helping to prevent the build up of uric acid crystals.
These same properties are also helpful when treating gout as the bonds between the joints and tissues are strengthened. In addition citric acid, which is plentiful in lime, is able to literally dissolve the uric acid crystals that cause the gout in the first place. This dissolving of the uric acid crystals will lead to the swelling going down and the pain subsiding or going away altogether.
Squeezing the juice of half a lime into a glass of water twice daily will give you the recommended dose-age of vitamin c and citric acid need to help alleviate Gout symptoms.
